Solvay Organics plant is build in the Nature Regional Park of Camargue.
 The site is classified as a "SEVESO II - Low threshold" plant. The operation permit was renewed in 2009. The plant is allowed to use, handle, produce and store a broad range of compounds including: toxic, flammable, halogenated compounds, products reacting violently with water, combustive derivatives and also specific chemicals like ammonia, sulfur, soda ash, acids, or hydrogen gas. The plant is also compliant with ATEX rules.
Environment
In the field of hazardous waste management, some facilities have been implemented on the plant for an efficient effluent disposal and treatment:
A processing plant for aqueous layers and waste water. An off-gas treatment with dedicated scrubbers for toxic gas like hydrogen sulfide, hydrogen chloride or sulfur dioxide.
Organics solvents (halogenated or not) are not incinerated on the plant but destroyed by a specialized company by high temperature incineration.
Hygien and Safety
 The policy of the Company is to aim at the highest safety standards with a strong involvement of the whole team and the support of the group. Safety records show more than 15 years without Loss Time Accident, an outstanding result for a chemical plant.
70% of the staff is graduated with the Secouriste Sauveteur du Travail (First Aid Worker) certificate and continous training is provided for hygien and safety. Against fire risk, the plant is equipped with a detection system with fire, smoke and tox. sensors, high and low fire fighting water systems, 2 fire fighting vehicles manned by on-call company fire-men. Calorimetric analysis, exposure computer assisted simulation, Hazop studies, are included in the usual methodology for new projects.
Reach
Solvay Organics France has successfully completed the pre-registration process for all concerned products during the time scheduled by European authority until 30.11.2008. New compounds registration from custom manufacturing are managed with Solvay group support.
